Artist statement:
Life requires monstrosities. The most horrifying features of anglerfish (teeth, lure, huge jaw, massive eyes, spines, aggressive attitude, general nightmarish appearance) are all necessary survival adaptations that make them suited to darkness, intense cold, and incredible water pressure. Ugliness is an adaptation to dire circumstances.
